NGA Nightly Nerf News!

Dang Blee, back at it again with the new Nerf guns! So, after writing my last news article about all the fun new Nerf guns that were revealed — more new Nerf guns were revealed! I had to go back and update the article. But, Hasbro just won’t quit, and they ended up releasing even more new Nerf guns. So, naturally, it was time for another update. This time, though, there were so many new Nerf guns that I decided to just write a whole new article. As always, if you’re the TL;DR type, feel free to watch the video instead. Clicking each blaster photo will link you to the corresponding YouTube overview video. Thanks for stopping by the site and I hope you enjoy the articles/videos!

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Rival Atlas XVI-1200 Blaster.

new nerf guns 2015 nerf rival atlas xvi-1200 blaster

We’ll start with the Nerf Rival blaster first, just like last time. So this is the new Nerf Rival Atlas XVI-1200. It is a pump-action Nerf Rival shotgun styled blaster that fires 2 shots with each trigger pull. It uses the same 12 round magazine as the Nerf Rival Zeus, except it loads in the top instead of through the middle. The way this thing loads reminds me of the P90 from Modern Warfare 3. The Zeus reload is more like the PDW-57 from Black Ops 2. (Yes, most of my firearm experience is from Call of Duty.) Anyway, this blaster looks very cool. A pump-action Rival blaster is something the fans have been asking for ever since the first two Rival blasters emerged. While some Nerf modders rose to the occasion, there was never an official option for pump-action. That is, until this fall.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf N-Strike Elite Stratobow Blaster.

I’m definitely not one to look forward to the latest Nerf bow, but this one actually looks pretty cool. The Nerf Mega Thunderbow was the most hardcore bow we’ve had on the Elite/Mega side of things so far. You see, most bows are made for the Nerf Rebelle line of blasters. Things are about to change. The Nerf Stratobow looks very cool. Slim and yet lethal with n integrated inline clip that holds up to 15 Elite darts. This Elite bow is also one that you can bet will have that “real bow action” phrase written across the box. There is no trigger on this bow, you must draw the string and release to fire a dart. I’ve skipped the Lightning Bow and mostly every bow before it, but this one I might actually buy.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf N-Strike PocketStrike Blaster.

This one looks like it’s going to be terrible. It’s another cool looking Nerf Jolt re-shell, but do we really need another Jolt? Outside of looks, it’s promising Elite performance, I guess. I mean the name Elite is there, but I have my doubts. Also, how are you supposed to hold this thing? I get it’s supposed to be super streamlined so you can slide it in and out of your pocket, but… Where do I put my hand? Where do my fingers go? What the what? This one might be a pass for me, guys. But tell me what you think.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Doomlands Impact Zone Desolator Blaster

Oh. My. Goodness. Is “sexy” the right word to use for a toy gun? If it wasn’t before, I’m sure it must be now. It has to be. The Doomlands Desolator is the sexiest blaster I’ve seen in a long time. I’m in love with this thing. In fact, I’m absolutely smitten. This thing is basically our new Nerf Stryfe for 2016. It’s a flywheel blaster that requires 4 AA batteries to operate. Like all of the other Doomlands blasters, this one has a large transparent window where you can view the internals and see how they operate. It has a white paint job, which is in stark contrast to the regular Doomlands orange. The Desolator comes with a great looking, custom 10-round banana mag. It also has an integrated shoulder stock, which is worrisome. Because like nearly all Nerf blasters before it, it seems like the Desolator will be suffering from a bad case of short-shoulder-stock-syndrome. Daaaang, Doomlands.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Doomlands Impact Zone Longarm.

Okay, so next up is another entry into the new Impact Zone subseries. This is the Nerf Doomlands Impact Zone Longarm. And I’ve got mixed feelings about this one. The name sounds like a Strongarm and it does have a bit in common with that blaster, but it’s actually more like the Nerf Spectre. In fact, it’s almost exactly like the Spectre, save for a few key differences. The main difference between this and the Spectre, besides the cool new paint job, is the tacticool factor. This blaster has a fixed long barrel, with no attachment point. It has also lost the stock attachment point, too. The only thing saving this blaster from scoring a 0 in the tacticool department is the pretty decently sized tactical rail on top.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Alien Menace Incisor Blaster.

That’s right, folks. It’s another new series of Nerf blasters! Out of nowhere! The new Alien Menace series looks pretty cool and, well, menacing. This has to be Hasbro’s answer to Mattel’s line of officially licensed Halo blasters. This is another battery operated, flywheel powered blaster as you can tell by the acceleration trigger on the handle. The Incisor features a rotating, 16 dart chamber turret for you to load up. Flywheel baster with a rotating turret? Sounds like the Nerf Rebelle Fearless Fire, doesn’t it? Looks pretty cool and the alien theme is well applied here, which should make for some fun Nerf war games. Cowboys vs Indians, Humans vs Zombies, Monsters vs Aliens, etc. The only thing that worries me is, once again, that integrated stock. Please, Hasbro, start making adjustable stocks like the Rapidstrike or just leave them off completely so we can throw on a Raider or Worker stock. Mmkay? Thanks, bye.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Alien Menace Ravager Blaster.

new nerf guns 2016 nerf alien menace ravager blaster

Another blaster in the Alien Menace series, the Ravager looks pretty interesting. It’s not a flywheeler like the Incisor, but it looks like it will have a pretty high rate of fire, nonetheless. That handle up near the turret appears to be a pump-action slam-fire handle, ala the Nerf Elite Rampage. Too bad this doesn’t use some type of weird alien mags, though. The strange spinning turret up front only holds 8 darts. What a bummer. There’s not much else to say about the Ravager. It looks like it has a pretty comfortable handle, but just like the Incisor, it’s lacking any kind of tacticool functionality whatsoever. There is no barrel or stock attachment point and there aren’t any tactical rails, either. However, that’s not really what these blasters are all about. It seems to me that Nerf is going back to when they used to make fun quirky blasters that didn’t really resemble any actual firearms. For this series anyway. Cool.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Modulus Tactical Gear Two Shot Blaster.

This thing is the latest attachment accessory in the Nerf Modulus series of blasters. But that doesn’t mean you’re limited to using it with a Modulus blaster. Remember, all of the Nerf Modulus stuff is cross-compatible with all of the other Nerf stuff. The only thing that might make you second guess things is the color scheme. Now back to this blaster, it is built sort of like a Nerf Mega BigShock, but it’s not Mega. It fires Elite darts. Two of them, to be precise. I believe it will utilize a smart air restrictor system, like the DoubleStrike or Triad, to selectively fire one dart at a time. Sweet. However, the best part of this blaster is its ability to slide on to a tactical rail and connect to another blaster. That’s right, you can attach this to any Nerf blaster with tac rails and use it as a foregrip! How cool is that?! But, that’s not all! This isn’t the only new thing announced for the Modulus line. There were a couple of other attachments announced as well. In addition to this blaster, there will be a high power tactical light, and a red dot targeting beam. Much want. Can. Not. Wait.

new nerf guns 2016 nerf rebelle platinum bowNew Nerf Guns 2016: Nerf Rebelle Platinum Bow.

This is apparently the year that Has-bow is finally going to convert me to a bow-loving Nerf enthusiast. This new Nerf Rebelle Platinum bow looks out of this world cool. It is the biggest bow they have ever made and I feel like it’s going to be absolutely epic. And there’s no blaster gimmick or anything like that, it’s just a straight up bow. It also features an adjustable sight that you can reposition to your liking. Think something more like the Rebelle Agent Bow or the Arrow Revolution and less like every other bow they’ve ever made. If that wasn’t enough, it also fires all new foam arrows, too. Giant, twenty-four-inch arrows that are supposed to fly up to 100 feet away. Wicked.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Rebelle Epic Action Bow.

Okay, do you remember in the last paragraph when I referred to the Platinum bow as epic? Yeah, that doesn’t apply here. Blasters like this are why I’m so anti-bow these days. This thing is like a Jolt bow, basically. And it’s almost exactly like the Nerf Mega Lightning Bow. Sigh. Needless to say, I’ll be skipping this one, and you probably should too. Update: This one is actually already out. You can find it on Amazon by clicking this link: Nerf Rebelle Epic Action Bow.

New Nerf Guns 2016: The Nerf Rebelle Flipside Bow.

Remember what I said about Nerf Rebelle capitalizing the Nerf bow market? It’s starting to become more evident now, isn’t it? You start to grow weary, wading through all of the bows in this category, but this one seems a little different, doesn’t it? Imagine someone took the guts of the Nerf Zombie Strike FlipFury and put them into a bow. That’s exactly what’s happened here and it actually turned out looking pretty awesome. It retains the two rotating 6 shot cylinders and the flip switch from the FlipFury and grew some sweet bow arms to encase them in. I just hope it fires more like a Thunderbow than a Lightning bow.

New Nerf Guns 2016: Nerf Rebelle CornerSight Blaster.

new nerf guns 2016 nerf rebelle cornersight

Every once in a while, when they’re not pumping out bows and bow blasters, the Nerf Rebelle team finds time to release a re-shell of an older blaster that everyone has forgotten about. This time, they’ve managed to remake the old Nerf Sneakshot. Okay, so maybe it’s just the idea that is remade, as the blaster itself is actually a lot different. The Cornersight looks like some kind of top slide priming half of a Nerf Rough Cut. This is like the Retaliator or the Strongarm, etc. It’s also got a paint scheme and handguard like the Nerf Lumanate. Boy, I really like the direction the Rebelle paint scheme is going. Back to the blaster, it’s able to bend in the middle to a 90-degree angle in either direction. There are mirrors on both sides so that you can actually see what you’re shooting at while you’re shooting around the corner.

New Nerf Guns 2016: Final Thoughts.

Well, that about does it for this one, guys. Do tell me what you think of all of these blasters, down in the comments section below! Which one is your favorite? Which one do you hate?  I think I covered everything this time. I’m pretty sure, but if not, you’ll be hearing from me again fairly soon.  Okay, that’s all, folks. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time!

  1. Am i the only one that thinks that the rival line looks like halo rifles. The atlas looks like one of those shotguns and the zeus looks like master chiefs battle rifle in a way.
